Information about Corporate Parenting Board

Collectively councillors act as ‘corporate parents’ for ‘looked after’ children in the Council’s care.  The Corporate Parenting Board meets to improve outcomes for ‘looked after’ children and ensure that the Council enables them to:

  • Have safe and stable care
  • Be well looked after
  • Be prepared for adult life
  • Grow into emotionally balanced and resilient young people.

The Board is made up of 9 councillors appointed to reflect the political balance of the Council, including the Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services.

The Board usually meets 6 times a year.

Meetings are open to the public.
