Petition to stop the felling of trees in St Peter's Park

We, the undersigned, object to the removal of trees from St Peter’s Churchyard and Park adjacent to Radford Grove Lane. We ask that where trees do need to be removed this is strictly in accordance with The Urban Forestry Strategy and with the provision of evidence and consultation with all residents beforehand (not only the Radford and Leen neighbourhood group).

We are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to stop the proposed felling of three trees from the park adjacent to Radford Grove Lane.

----------------------------------------------------------

The Council was contacted earlier this year to request the removal of 2/3 trees from St Peters Park to alleviate the loss of light experienced by residents on Radford Grove Lane. These Trees have been inspected and at the time it was considered that there were no safety concerns or other reasons why the Trees should be removed at this time. Therefore no further action would be taken and I can confirm that there are currently no plans to remove the Trees. However, the council does have a duty of care to ensure that Trees under our control do not pose an unreasonable risk to people or property and we will continue to monitor all Trees across the city for reasons of Health and Safety and take the appropriate action as and when it is needed. Any future action will be fully communicated and confirmed with the community before any works or removals are carried out. I can also confirm that any future works will be carried out in accordance with the Urban Forestry Strategy.

Thank you for contacting the Council and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further concerns. Regards, Eddie Curry, Head of Parks, Open Spaces & Investment Funding
