Overview and scrutiny helps to provide
accountability and transparency in local public
services. It is an opportunity for
non-executive councillors to review policies, decisions and
services of the City Council and other organisations operating in
Nottingham to ensure they meet the needs of the community and,
where necessary, makes recommendations for improvement.
The Joint City and County Health
Scrutiny Committee is made up of 8 non-executive City Councillors
and 8 County Councillors to scrutinise health matters which impact
on both the areas covered by Nottingham City Council and
Nottinghamshire County Council, including carrying out the
statutory health scrutiny role.
The Committee meets monthly and meetings are
open to the public. Administration of
the Committee and location of meetings alternates each year between
Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.
The Committee is currently administered by
Nottinghamshire County Council and details of meetings and papers
can be found on the County Council website
