The collapse of intu provides Nottingham an opportunity to reconsider the development of the Broadmarsh site. Historically, there were lidos across Nottingham and it would be fantastic to have one brought back to the area. The location is also well-served by public transport.

Thank you for your ideas on the Broadmarsh and for taking the
time to submit your petition to Nottingham City Council on 27 July
2020.
The Council recognises that Broadmarsh is an extremely important
site right at the heart of the city centre and how vital it is that
we maximise its potential as part of the wider regeneration taking
place in the city, bringing investment, creating jobs and improving
the quality of life for local people.
The withdrawal of Intu from the site presented a further financial
challenge for the Council at a time when budgets are under immense
pressure and any future redevelopment of the site is not possible
without the Council working in partnership with developers and
investors. However, the situation has provided a great opportunity
to look again at the plans for this key site taking into account
different ideas and please be assured that your ideas will be
included and considered as part of that process.
The Councils priority right now remains on maintaining the health
and safety of the site and reopening the public right of way
between Collin Street and Listergate as soon as possible.
As soon as the Council are in a position to have a wider
conversation about the plans for this site, we will contact you
again at that time via the email address with which you have
contacted us.
