The Committee noted the decision of the current Chief Executive, taken under Delegation 24 of the Constitution, to appoint Katherine Kerswell as Interim Chief Executive of Nottingham City Council, effective from 01 May 2020.

The Committee agreed to exclude the public from the meeting during consideration of the remaining item in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 on the basis that having regard to all the circumstances, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing the information, as defined in Paragraphs 1, 2, 4 and 5 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act.

Review of annualised hours contracts for school based teachers

Nicholas Lee, Director of Education Services, and Leanne Sharp, HR Consultant, presented the report, which detailed proposals following a review of annualised hours contracts for school-based teachers.

 

Resolved that the Committee approves:

 

(a)  the use of annualised hours contracts of employment for teaching staff within all maintained schools and academies that purchase HR Advisory Support from Nottingham City Council;

 

(b)   that the new ‘Annualised Hours Policy’, compiled following consultation with Trade Unions at a local level, be adopted in the ‘People Management Handbook for Schools’ with immediate effect.

Chief Executive appointment programme: day 1 assessment outcomes

Councillor Dave Trimble and Lyn Bacon attended the meeting for this item as representatives of the Assessment Panels held during the day.

 

Resolved that following discussion on the outcomes from the Assessment Panels, the candidates agreed by the Committee move forward to the formal interview stage, to be held at the meeting of this Committee on Wednesday 13 May 2020.
