The City Councillors act collectively as the
‘corporate parents’ for children in the Council’s
care. The Corporate Parenting Board meets to review this care
provision, to ensure that the Council enables these children
to:
·
have safe and stable care;
·
be well looked after;
·
be prepared for adult life; and
·
grow into emotionally balanced and resilient young people.
The Board is made up of ten councillors
(including the Portfolio Holder for Children and Young People) and
reflects the political balance of the Council. It usually meets six
times each year and its meetings are open to the public.
