The Council administers meetings of the
Schools Forum. The Schools Forum is
both a consultative and decision-making body whose purpose is to
advise the local authority in line with the Schools Forum (England)
Regulations 2012. The Council has to
consult the Forum on specific proposals, such as arrangements for
the education of children with special educational needs and
arrangements for Early Years provision. The Forum can make decisions on some Council
proposals, e.g. allocating funds from mainstream school budgets to
the Council to provide certain services centrally. The Forum’s constitution outlines exactly
what decisions it can make and when it has to be consulted.
