The Council administers meetings of the
Nottinghamshire and City of Nottingham Fire and Rescue
Authority. The Authority is responsible
for ensuring its Fire and Rescue Service has the people, equipment
and training needed to carry out its duties in relation to fire
prevention, fire safety, firefighting and rescue, road traffic
collision extrication and rescue and other emergency rescue
activities e.g. responding to flooding or terrorism.
The Authority is known as a ‘Combined
Fire Authority’ (CFA) as it comprises 6 councillors from
Nottingham City Council and 12 councillors from Nottinghamshire
County Council.
The Authority makes decisions on key matters
such as strategy, policy and the budget. There are several sub-committees reporting to the
full Fire Authority:

Finance and Resources Committee
·
Human Resources Committee
·
Personnel Committee
·
Policy and Strategy Committee.
The Policy and Strategy Committee generally
meets four times a year. Meetings are open to the public.
