Overview and scrutiny helps to provide
accountability and transparency in local public
services. It is an opportunity for
non-executive councillors to review policies, decisions and
services of the City Council and other organisations operating in
Nottingham to ensure they meet the needs of the community and,
where necessary, makes recommendations for improvement.
The Overview and Scrutiny Committee takes an
overview of key strategic issues relevant to Nottingham to ensure
that decision makers are held to account for their decisions and
actions. It has statutory powers to
scrutinise crime and disorder issues and flood risk
management. It sets and manages the
scrutiny work programme and can establish scrutiny review panels to
support delivery of the work programme.
The Committee is made up of 12 non-executive
councillors appointed to reflect the political balance of the
Council. The Committee meets
monthly.
Meetings are open to the public.
