Council response

We are sorry that you are experiencing difficulties with inconsiderate, non-residential parking within your local community, a common occurrence near educational establishments across the country.

The desired outcome of your petition is for the Council to prevent non-residential parking close to your homes. You may be aware that we have implemented Residential Parking Schemes within surrounding areas, that had the greatest problems at the time. We are proposing to extend this to the remaining section of Greencroft, and side roads, as part of our 2024/25 Streets for People programme. Subject to final funding approvals, expected in May, development work will commence over the summer and consultation beginning later this year.

Please note that there are charges for permits, that all restrictions allow short term parking which means they cannot prevent the issues of the school run, and they do not guarantee a parking directly outside your property.

Your petition also mentions blocked driveways. As with all types of restrictions within the Nottingham City boundary, Civil Enforcement Officers are responsible for enforcement and you can report directly to Parking Regulation and Compliance on 0115 876 1499 (Monday to Friday 08:30 to 13:00). Outside of these hours, all enforcement requests should be reported to the Police on their 101 non-emergency number. Blocked driveways can also be reported on-line via this link: https://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/blockeddriveway

It is also worth highlighting that the City Council has worked hard to build up a high quality integrated transport system that provides choice, flexibility and opportunities to travel to work, access education and other services through a number of sustainable travel modes. We will continue to offer educational establishments sustainable travel options of walking and cycling initiatives. I hope this reassures you that we are working hard to focus on the needs of our citizens through a cleaner, more sustainable transport vision.

Finally, may I thank you again for bringing these matters to our attention and trust that this reply goes some way to alleviating your concerns.

Yours sincerely,
