Update on the council's response to statutory intervention - Key Decision

Decision type: Key

Decision status: For Determination

Notice of proposed decision first published: 17/03/2023

This decision will be taken under urgency procedures.

Reason for urgency:
The meeting is urgent and the business cannot be deferred because the council is currently subject to a Statutory Intervention and was issued with a series of Instructions by the Improvement and Assurance Board (IAB) on the 15th February 2023, with which it must comply and that it has to complete to specified deadlines. In order to ensure the delivery of the Instructions within the set timelines, it is clear that further support will need to be given to a number of activities, which will have cost and resource implications. One deadline has already passed and the second is 31st March, so it is imperative that resources are identified and released quickly. This item identifies the resources required and the delegation of approval for their use. Failure to deliver satisfactorily against the Instructions to the required timelines will lead to an increase in the level of statutory intervention that it is subject to. Hence the urgency of the decision.
