Overview and Scrutiny helps to provide accountability and transparency in local public services. It is an opportunity for non-executive councillors to review the policies, decisions and services of the Council and other organisations operating in Nottingham to ensure that they meet the needs of the community and, where necessary, makes recommendations for improvement.
The Housing and City Development Scrutiny Committee has been established to discharge the functions conferred by the Localism Act 2011 and other relevant legislation for matters relating to housing and city development, including economic development, employment and skills, business growth and inward investment, property and asset management, housing, transport, traffic and parking.
The Committee is made up of non-executive councillors appointed to reflect the political balance of the Council. It usually meets six times each year and its meetings are open to the public.
