Additional Information
David first joined the City Council in 1995, while working as a teacher, and then stood down in 2000 after becoming a Deputy Head Teacher. He re-joined the Council in 2007 and served as Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services from 2008 before becoming Leader of the Council in 2019.
He was born and educated in Ipswich and came to Nottingham to study at Trent Polytechnic in 1982. He taught for 21 years in the city and county, starting his career at Jesse Boot Junior School and eventually serving as Headteacher at Mellers School in Radford for four years. He has lived in Sneinton for 34 years and serves on the management committee of Bakersfield Community Centre and supports a variety of other community groups. In May 2015 and June 2017 he was the Parliamentary candidate in Rushcliffe for the Labour Party.
