The Standards Committee is responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct by Councillors and Co-opted Members. It advises the Council on changes to the Code of Conduct and monitors complaints made about Councillors and Co-opted Members. It investigates complaints that a Councillor or Co-opted Member has breached the Code of Conduct and can impose sanctions where a complaint is upheld. When investigating complaints the Committee will be advised by an Independent Person who will provide an independent perspective on the complaint.
